Loafing

The Alba Journal of Short Poetry has published one of my poems — Loafing. It took me a long time to realize that a poem does not need to end — it only needs to persist in its argument.

  1. A good poem. I like what you say about endings and persistence in poems. Whatever engages us becomes, in a sense, endless. Loafing as zazen, mindfulness and poetry. You turn off the saw of busyness and the myriad world comes to you. Dogen: “To carry yourself forward and experience myriad things is delusion. That myriad things come forth and experience themselves is awakening.”

Thanks bro. If the job of the poet begins with being fetch-able, then maybe you don’t have to go anywhere.
